This is for anyone looking to dress up a cake but wants to keep costs down or for those who are not fans of fondant. You could do any theme easily!
For my son’s first birthday I knew what I wanted but at the time I didn’t have friends who made fondant cakes and I didn’t want to spend $300 on a cake, so I decided I could order a cake from the local grocer- $35 for a two tiered cake and smash cake. With a little research I found out you can order fondant cake toppers on Etsy- perfect! I actually worked with two vendors to create what I wanted. I ordered a small circle top with the words I wanted and the theme I was going with. Then I ordered a 2d and 3d Owl from the second vendor.
Everything turned out perfect! They both arrived in the mail with just a few adjustments needed. The top fit perfectly on the cake. The 3D owl was just what the smash cake needed. I wish I had a picture of the owl on the smash cake by itself but… I was also able to also get some cupcake toppers to put on my fancy homemade funfetti cupcakes to tie in the theme. Overall, I loved how it all turned out!
