For those of you with little ones at home who have been searching for the perfect no leak straw cup, I have found one worth writing about. First let me say I am a big fan of Contigo. I have had many Contigo water bottles and occasionally a lid would break from being dropped- Contigo has excellent customer service and will help with any issues. My son is 8 and although he doesn’t need a spill proof straw cup, my niece is almost 2, any cup is fair game in her eyes. The kids sit at a kids table together to eat or snack so everything is reachable. She holds her cup around the house like a toy. She rolls them, shakes them, throws them… you get the point nothing is safe but if she doesn’t have her cup she is upset. I went through a couple different choices and these are the clear winner.

There is a rubber seal around the straw that fits snugly against the straw. There is also a rubber stopper inside the middle of the straw that stops liquid from coming out if upside down. I ordered 4 cups for each of the kids and they all work great. Each kid has their own color so they can easily locate their cup.

The straw unscrews for cleaning. They recommend hot soapy water for 10 minutes or the top shelf of the dish washer. I have seen reviews for mold being an issue. As with bottle parts everything is able to be broken down and sanitized. I haven’t had any issues yet but I usually clean them after dinner, they are not sitting after milk has been in them. If you are going to put them in the dishwasher and run it later I would recommend still doing the hot soapy bath to remove any milk from under the seals drying.
As I mentioned Contigo has excellent customer service if you have any issues.
For school age kids I recommend the Contigo Stainless Autoseal. It’s 20 oz so it will last and stay cold at school and is easy to drink without any straw parts to worry about. I can keep ice in these over 8 hours.
